IRNA - Borussia Dortmund defender Christian Woerns
replaced Werder Bremen`s Frank Fahrenhorst on the German
national team roster for the October 9 friendly with
Iran, the media reported Monday.
Fahrenhorst will miss the Iran match because of a broken
nose which he incurred during Saturday`s Bundesliga home
match against Bayern Munich.
The 33-year-old Woerns will join Hannover 96 defender Per
Mertesacker, 20, who is expected to make his debut for
the German national squad on Saturday.
German headcoach Juergen Klinsmann will miss several key
players for the Iran friendly, among them VfB Stuttgart
striker Kevin Kuranyi, Bayer Leverkusen defender Jens
Nowotny, Werder Bremen midfielder Frank Baumann and
Hertha Berlin defender Arne Friedrich.
The German team is to begin its training camp on Tuesday
in Munich.
The triple World Cup title holders will then depart
Thursday for Iran.
The German national squad will stay at Tehran`s Esteghlal
Hotel where they will have the final preparations for
Saturday`s match at Azadi Stadium.
